To start off, this review may not hold true with the current volumes of translated X being released.
The ones I have acquired were produced at least three years ago. I do not know if Viz has changed the
areas where I have complaints about.
Now to the actual review. The first thing that bothered me was the flipped artwork. It ruins the the
beautiful work CLAMP put in every page.
The thing that truly bothered me was the exuberant use of sound effects. Every little action had a sound
effect. It was reading a cliché hero comic book with "pow!" and "boom!" everywhere. Now, I think it wouldn't
have bothered me so much if the sound effect didn't take up three quarters of the page. It was really distracting
and ruined the art.
Besides that, I found the English version to be decent. Translations were alright, and terms were not "Americanized."
The price was incredibly steep at around $16 per volume. You're better off buying the original Japanese and finding
the translations online.
